Topy Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiromi Ishii; hereinafter referred to as "Topy Industries")' Toyohashi Plant Factory has received a "Gold" rating for the fifth consecutive year in a sustainability survey conducted by EcoVadis, a French company that is an international supply chain assessment organization. This rating places the company within the top 5% of companies surveyed worldwide.
EcoVadis is an assessment organization that provides buyers with sustainability assessments of suppliers through an information sharing platform where buyers and suppliers from 180 countries and 220 industries are registered. It comprehensively assesses a company's sustainability using 21 survey items related to the four themes of "environment," "labor and human rights," "ethics," and "sustainable material procurement." With growing awareness of sustainability, the assessment of the sustainability activities of suppliers has become important, and since its establishment in 2007, EcoVadis has conducted sustainability assessments of more than 130,000 companies using scorecards and improvement tools that can be shared across a variety of industries.
Topy Industries' Toyohashi Plant Factory, which is undergoing its fifth survey this year, not only maintained a high ranking in the "environment" category, but also saw its ranking improve from the perspective of its corporate policies in the areas of "environment," "ethics," and "sustainable procurement." In particular, the high overall ranking in the areas of "environment" and "ethics" was due to the strengthening of its compliance system, including the renewal of its compliance guidebook, and in "sustainable procurement," the high evaluation of the company's Procurement Policy.
