Steel Division of Topy Industries Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiromi Ishii; hereinafter referred to as "Topy Industries") received the ECO-VC Award from Panasonic Homes Co., Ltd. (Head office: Toyonaka City, Osaka; President and CEO: Takashi Fujii; hereinafter referred to as "Panasonic Homes") on May 29, 2025. The ECO-VC Award is a unique initiative by Panasonic Homes in which the Panasonic Group and its suppliers work together to promote activities for "CO2 reduction," "minimization of resource input," "utilization of recycled resources," "cost rationalization," and "enhancement of product appeal," and this year only one company was awarded the award.
The award this time went to a special H-section steel developed by Topy Industries in collaboration with Marusugi Corporation (Head office: Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture, President and CEO: Tadakuni Sugiyama) for Panasonic Homes. The vertical part (web *1) of H-section steel is cut in the center to form a T section steel, which is used as a joint material for the beams of buildings. Compared to conventional materials, this product not only satisfies the strength of the joints, but was also recognized for its environmental friendliness in contributing to reducing CO2 emissions during the manufacturing process.
