Introducing solar power generation equipment through an on-site PPA model

Topy Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiromi Ishii; hereinafter referred to as "Topy Industries") has decided to install solar power generation equipment under an on-site PPA model at Toyohashi Plant (Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture) in order to promote the use of renewable energy as part of its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions. The equipment is expected to start operation in May 2025, generating 1,700 MWh of electricity per year. The introduction of the solar power generation equipment is also expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 770 tons per year.

The Topy Industries Group has positioned the promotion of sustainability management, including responses to climate change, as a top priority, and has formulated and is promoting the "TOPY Sustainable Green Vision 2050," a long-term sustainability vision aimed at realizing a rich and sustainable society in 2050. As part of its efforts to combat climate change, the Group aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 46% compared to fiscal 2013 by fiscal 2030, and to achieve carbon neutrality by fiscal 2050. Going forward, the Group will continue to promote the use of renewable energy to achieve its CO2 reduction targets.

CO2 emissions in fiscal 2023 will be reduced by 12.6%* compared to fiscal 2013, up 3% from the previous year's 9.6% reduction.

This is a type of contract model called a power purchase agreement, and is a business model in which solar power generation facilities owned by Power Generation Business companies are installed on the roofs of customers' premises or offices and factories, and the generated electricity is supplied to customers. In this case, the leasing company Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Panasonic Finance Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and President and CEO: Keiichi Hamano) will lease the power generation facilities to Power Generation Business company Nishitetsu Shizen Energy LLC (Head office: Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City; Representative: Yasuhiro Hayashida), and Topy Industries will purchase the electricity generated there and utilize renewable energy.
