Topy Industries Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Hiromi Ishii; hereinafter "Topy Industries"), its consolidated subsidiary Topy Enterprises, Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Masayuki Yamaguchi; hereinafter "Topy Enterprises, Ltd."), Tojitsu, Ltd. (Head office: Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture; Representative Director, President and CEO: Hiroshi Kato; hereinafter "Tojitsu"), the three companies of the Topy Industries Group, are promoting a new resource recycling initiative targeting "discarded rubber crawlers" that were used in construction machinery.

Until now, discarded rubber tracks have been difficult to separate and recycle due to their structure in which the core metal and rubber are firmly integrated, and landfill disposal has been the mainstream method. In steel scrap industry, there are concerns that rubber-derived components and smoke generated during combustion will negatively affect electric furnace operations, and in the waste rubber industry, they have been avoided as "difficult-to-process materials" because separating the rubber from the iron is extremely difficult.

 

In this initiative, Topy Industries will utilize its long-cultivated electric furnace steelmaking technologies to control the impact of rubber on steelmaking while effectively utilizing it as thermal energy, thereby recycling core metals into high-quality steel products. Furthermore, Topy Enterprises, Ltd. and Tojitsu will leverage their group's logistics network to establish an integrated system from collection to distribution, presenting a compliant, appropriate, efficient, and transparent recycling flow to waste generators such as construction equipment owners and rental companies.

　

Through this initiative, the Topy Industries Group aims to contribute to waste reduction and carbon neutrality in the construction machinery industry. Moving forward, we will continue to promote technological development and strengthen our systems toward the realization of a sustainable society, with a focus on advanced recycling of iron.
